Sharks make their initial trims. Back to junior are Mason Beaupit (WHL Wenatchee), Luca Cagnoni (WHL Portland) and Jake Furlong (QMJHL Halifax). To the Barracuda camp go Ethan Frisch, Roman Kinal, Connor MacEachern, Bradley Marek, Anthony Vincent, Beck Warm. Felix Gagnon has been released from his ATO and goes back to his QMJHL club.

Josh Hader on not making himself available for what would have been his first four-out save attempt of the season: "It's the situation that we were at." Hader, a pending free agent, was asked for clarification. "Are we in the playoff race?" (The Padres' wild-card elimination number is down to one.)

And if the Padres were in the race? "It could've been different in a lot of ways," Hader said.

Blake Snell could start Sunday's season finale, but with the Padres all but officially eliminated, he indicated that tonight's outing might have been his last for San Diego. If it was, he'll finish 2023 as the major-league ERA title winner and the National League Cy Young favorite.

"I understood that, so it fired me up the last month, for sure," Snell said. "It could be my last start."

Elsewhere, the Flames win 3-2 over the Seattle Kraken in a shootout. Yegor Sharangovich and Dillon Dube both score in the shootout.

Dryden Hunt and Ilya Solovyov both scored in regulation for the Flames.

Jakob Pelletier has an "upper-body injury" according to Flames head coach Ryan Huska. His left shoulder didn't look great after taking a hit from Marian Studenic in the first period. Huska says they'll know more about Pelletier's status on Tuesday (day off for the team).
